Anyone have problems w/ a 3 point STB, I've heard that they could stress the cowl and possibly crack a windshield. (??) Any major advantage of a 3-pt over a 2-pt that would justify the added risk?

Thanks

The cracked windshield scenario seems to have almost "Urban Legend" status. I've been on the boards 3 years and have not heard one first person account of a cracked windshield caused by a 3 point brace. (The cracked windshields I've heard of were the result of opening the hood with the wiper arms flipped up.)

That having been said, I went with the simplicity of a 2 point anyway as I didn't hear any convincing argument that warranted the risk and complexity of the 3 point.

I have heard of the cracked windshield risk w/a 3-point, but more importantly, I've heard that a 3-point STB changes the crumple/crash zones of the car and can create problems during a crash. That's the reason we went w/a 2-point. I didn't want to compromise the areas that are supposed to collapse in the event of a front-end collision.

Check w/Afterthoughts Auto for an STB. They're a site sponsor and treat their customers very well!
