Subject:
Cleaning and Care of Fabric Convertible Tops
Models:
2001 and Prior Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette
2001 and Prior Pontiac Firebird
To maintain and protect your fabric convertible top, it should be cleaned often. If when cleaning your convertible top you find it difficult to remove stubborn dirt or stains, a product called Haartz(R) Fabric Roof Cleaner or equivalent, is recommended.
After the convertible top is clean and dry, it is recommended that a protectant such as 303 High Tech Fabric Guard(R) or equivalent, be applied to protect the convertible top from water and oil based stains and mildew formation.
Important : As always, follow the manufacturers cautions and directions when applying.
The products mentioned above may become available from GMSPO in the near future. In the meantime, they can be purchased in (USA) from the Corvette Museum by calling 1-800-538-3883.
We just received our first supply of both their cleaner and protectant. If anyone is interested, here is the link to the products in the store:

I recently cleaned mine up again...
You need :
- 3'x 20' plastic painter's tarp
- tape
- 2 x Formula 303 Fabric Guard spray
- Haartz vert top cleaner spray
Here's what I do :
1) Hose off the top.
2) Use the Haartz top cleaner and use your fingertips to massage the top. Rinse. Repeat.
3) Let the top dry in direct sunlight until BONE DRY. Try to keep as much dust and stuff off as possible while drying.
4) Take a brush tip attachment and carefully vacuum the top. Use small "smushes" and don't rake the vacuum across the top of the car (could wear/frizz the fibers). Use a scotch tape ball to get off any stubborn fuzzies.
5) Use the plastic and tape to cover the ENTIRE car except the top. I raise the top and put the plastic under it, same with the trunk and doors. Also make sure to cover the rear window really good.
6) Spray the Formula 303 protectant evenly over the entire top - putting on a good coat should use two cans/spray bottles. One can/bottle just isn't enough IMHO (and I've done this twice since buying the car in '99).
7) Let it dry 24 hrs. before putting the top down or getting the top wet.
It should now bead water like new and the top should have a nice dark color to it like when it was new.
You can find the Haartz cleaner and 303 Fabric Guard here :

I just received my shipment of both the Ragg Topp Cleaner and Protectant products from Afterthoughts earlier this week and will be trying them out this weekend. I plan on laying a cloth or plastic sheet over the body area I am spraying as I move around the top, just to reduce the amount of area needing to be wiped off, however.

This is what I used and there seems to be a slight gray look from a angle, is this just the coating from the spray?? When it dries for a couple of days will this disappear? or is it permanent? I did put two coats on also the floormats and inside , useing 1 full can and 1/4 of a 2nd...

Actually I do remember that I was The 1 st on because they Knew nothing about the 35 Th or what it looked like. I had to tell them about it, also on the ordering process from SLP.. Didn't work
