or should there be covers over the back of the speakers to help project sound into the pass cabin? Mine (02 LE SS) are just bolted in with no cover over the speaker on the inside where the top folds into. The rear speakers could sound much better if it was covered no?

There probably isn't room behind the rear seat speaker magnets for a cover without interferring w/ the top mechanism. Even if you could cover it (making it a theoretical "infinite baffle"), it wouldn't help much in the bass dept. (where the lack of a baffle hurts the most) due to the tiny volume provided by such a cover. I think we just have to accept the fact that those rear speakers are worthless for anything other than mid/hi's. Thus the need for a real sub-woofer.
