The rear defroster in my 94 vert got disconnected at the solder/weld point on the inside of the window. ie, the plastic connecter that clips onto a piece of metal welded to the window for conduction now holds the metal piece, which needs to be resoldered/welded to the window. I have no idea how to even attempt to tackle this, and dont even know if it is a welding/soldering job. welding seems a little crazy for this, and soldering doesnt seem like it would do the job. the dealership just told me that i need to replace the window, but im not taking their word for it, theyve screwed me too many times in the past. plus, the window is totally fine minus the fact that the connection isnt, well, connected.

I had this happen on my '97 vert. The first time the dealership WELDED it back on. Don't ask me how. It lasted for all of about a year. Second time around they replaced the entire rear window section of the top, which was covered under my extended warranty. The new window was warped, so a third window was the charm. After that it worked like a champ until I had to part with the car. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Try a car audio installer. They can usually solder and won't charge an arm and a leg. Maybe just an arm...

The only way to get that terminal reattched to the back glass is to have a high wattage solder gun that gets real hot. The glass will act like a heat sink. I have a cheap Sears Craftsman solder gun that the tip will get red hot. That gun works perfect to get the glass hot enought for solder to melt. Clean the terminal good first with a 3M Scotch Brite. I've reattached mine twice and it came off again, i just gave up, and don't use it anymore. It isn't the best deisgn consept, to have that much tension on a wire, but you can't really see out of your rear window anyway, so you aren't missing a whole lot.
