I'm new to this messageboard, I usually post on www.camaroz28.com (actually this is how I found out about this board). I'm changing my 1997 Tan interior to a custom red and black leather from www.leatherseats.com My problem is that I need new seat belts that will match my interior (black). Does anyone know where to get black seat belts or is anyone selling them. Its harder to find them b/c black only came out in 2000 and I have a convertible which takes different rear belts.

I have had a black belt replaced in my 'vert 'Hawk and the cost was quite reasonable from my Pontiac dealer...Try that!

Worse case the belts can be dyed a different color. [Smile]

Are you going to change the color of your top also?

What Black Robe said! Just replaced the drivers in my 97 vert. The dealer can order them.

I talked to the dealer and they said $650.00, I thought that was alot of money, how much did you guys pay. Yes I am eventually going to replace my top but as a college student that is going to have to come next year. This project is costing me enough. I thought about dying the belts, do know what you would dye the belts with? I would want a really good dye since the belts go over clothing, its not like dying the rug where just feet touch. Thanks to everyone who replied, i'm so glad that I found a board that has a section devoted to the F-Body vert!

Check w/any classic car restoration supplier for dye. Try doing a google search for Rick's First Generation Parts, Year One, Worldwide Camaro Association, Classic Industries, etc.

Whats up with that??? I have my invoice in front of me as I write this. This is for the drivers side only, ie. one belt.

1 #12369388 BELT KIT 14.875 SHIPPED O SPECIAL ORDERED 1. List $88.00.
My cost NET $65.00 plus tax $70.36.

So even if I bought all the belts there is no way this should come close to $650.00!!!

Good Luck

Have you thought of getting them through a salvage yard? Of course, you will want to get the ones that weren't in use at the time of collision. It might take a couple of cars to achieve this one.

Those seat belts on ebay were in an accident, I e-mailed the seller. But luckly I found a set on www.ls1tech.com out of a 2002 Camaro that weren't in an accident. The guy I guess is making his camaro into a race car and is putting racing belts in. The only problem is that the belts are from a coupe but I figured that i'll just by the 2 rear reciever belts. It will still be cheaper then getting everything new and finding black coupe belts were hard enough let alone a convertible.
