Hello,
Can anyone tell me how to tighten the converible top on my 1997 Z28 convert? It puffs up about 6-8" at highway speeds & looks like crap! there must be a way to take out the sag..
Thanks in advance
Tony

The material may have stretched.....you might want to consult a top shop or get a set of Helm manuals. Adjustment info is in there.

Couple of pieces of advice:

Do not drive the car at high spped with the top up and the windows down - this will stretch the heck out of it.

After washing the car, unclip the roof from the windsheild and let the fabric dry. Top will stay very nice and tight.

I brought my 02SS in for some service (still under warranty) the other week. I complained that, when it rains hard, some water leaks at the upper corner of my windshield where it meets the folding top. They replaced the weatherstripping and adjusted the entire top. Now it's nice and tight again, I stay dry during a downpour, and it didn't cost me a cent.
I've been wanting to learn how to "tune" my own top, too. So anyone out there who's had experience with it, please continue to post in this thread.

Is it extremely difficult to "adjust" the top. I have one service manual. I hate to buy another "helms" for one thing. Is there an adjustment on the bows or do you have to take it loose on the front & tighten it?
Thanks

Any convertible's top will balloon out when going at highway speeds. Just the higher pressure in the car and lower pressure outside that causes that. [Smile]

What brand manual do you have? The Helm set is for [i]everything [i] related to the entire car.
