Should I keep a complete 1st gen bone stock, or add little enhancements that would disqualify it from concourse - like AC, power seat, tilt, clock. Factory equip, but not on my build sheet. Only mod I plan is disc brakes for driveability - this is deer country.

Enjoy the car and add the options that will make you happy driving it. [Smile]

My opinion is that if you add options that dont "hurt" the car, then thats fine. Just make sure they are removable and save the original parts to reinstall on the car in the future.

Its kind of a waste of a perfectly good original car if you start doing things like wheeltubs, roll cages, and cutting up the body. But small items like disc brakes (you could even use the correct year/style so the look correct), power steering, and sometimes A/C, and a power seat, are all easily removed without harming the car. Good luck on whatever you decide! [Smile]

Oh, and BTW, dont try to pass off non original parts as being original. If you add those parts, just tell people you did it so it suited you better, especially when selling the car. That way you wont be a "wanna-be" [Smile]

What Steve said. If you want to add some options, consider adding the options that were available to the car the year it was produced.
The main consideration however is what YOUR plans are for the car. If you're primarily interested in having a 1st gen Camaro to drive (and don't care about "originality"), ...then add what makes the car more driveable. Like Steve mentioned, keep any old parts, ...you never know...

I agree with Steve & Kevin.

Example: I have a '67 230, 6-cyl manual top Granada Gold convertible with original drivetrain and protect-o-plate. I bought it in 1994. It's about as stripped and plain as they come (very few options - console, bumperettes, powerglide trans). It was repainted & got new seat upholstery about 10 years ago (by the previous owner). It's due for new foam in the seats. They've broken down and I'm starting to have a hard time seeing over the steering wheel. We replaced the original dirty door panels with reproduction ones & re-dyed the rest of the interior & put in new carpet about 5 years ago. Steve added year correct disc brakes and power steering for safety reasons in 1996. It's a nice little car, and fun to take to local cruise-ins, but by no means is it a concourse car. I drive it and enjoy it, and the simple modifications to it don't detract from it's appearance.

Definitely do what will make you happy and give you plenty of happy miles on the road. If you take care of it and install the mods that match the era of the car, it won't be out of place or offend the purists. They'll understand that you care about the car and you're not trying to pass it off as something it's not.
