Hi. Has anyone tried cutting the top coil off your rear spring and bending the next coil to the shape of the old top coil.nobody wants to sell me just the rear lowering coils.they say the rear coils are matched to thefront ones ,and the can't tell how much they will drop the rear.if it dosent work Iam not out much. any HELP PLEASE

On my 80 Olds Cutlass I bought a set of spring compressors ..basically two grade 8 bolts with brackets that you put on the coils to lower the car I got them at a local speed shop Here is a link to a pic of the compressors pic I would only do this as a tempoary measure to see if you like the ride (I did not and removed them

I have not looked at the 4th Gen. springs, but on most Camaro's only the bottom coil is flat. The top coil is normal, and is where you want to cut. Do not use a torch, use a cutoff wheel and don't get the coil to hot. Also don't cut a full coil, remember you can cut more, but you can't add.

The springs are flat on both ends .the only way, I can see to get the spring flat again is to bend the top coil to the shape the cut coil was. I don't think I can Bend it it without HEAT,there goes the temper of the top 2 coils. Any ideas. Mike

If you're just looking to lower the rear about 3/4", I've heard of a lot of people removing the rubber isolator from the top and placing some 5/8" heater hose over the first coil.
