Well my daughter had gotten 9 white times slips and 1 yellow. Not bad for her first time driving the Brickyard 400! She never even drove it on the street yet. She spanked several Mustangs and even smashed some of the guy's ego! Yes ,you got beat by a girl! I kept hearing people say "There is a girl in that SS wearing a helmet". She went 10 rounds before breaking out. The temp was very cold (felt like 30 degrees)and very windy all day with 30mph winds. I thought it was going to snow! One round she had the ASR off and left good and 20' later while I was taping the run from the big end,I saw a huge blue tire smoke cloud and then instead of seeing the front of the car,I saw the left side.OH **** I said. The car went sideways 2 times, she gathered it back up,cleaned her shorts and nailed the throttle. The 2001 Trans AM she was racing got a few car lenghts on her during that mishap and to my suprise ,she still won the round. He broke out! That run was an 16.48 sec at almost 100mph! LOL! Her best run with the ASR on was 13.49 @103.16 with a not so good 2.159 60'.The track was very slippery from the cold weather and that 30mph head wind did not help either.Everyone from all of the schools and some professional drivers were talking about her big sideways stunt. My heart was in my throat. When she got back into the pits, she was calm and thought that was cool! I have that on tape since this was her very last time that she could participate in the High School Nationals. There was a 1/4 wheel standing school bus that last year went 10.00 @130mph but because of the bad wind he did a 15.7 sec 1/4 mile run today.

13.49 is quite impressive...especially with the ASR engaged. Get a good launch without the ASR and that car should see some better times.

I can't wait to drive myself at the track. I may be able to do better. Especially if the track was a bit warmer.I thought that was decent for a stock automatic convertible.

Very good times, and for a beginner no less! You should be able to do a lot better without the ASR on if you launch right though. That is a fast car! Did ya have to clean YOUR shorts when she got sideways?
She is a lucky kid to get to race that car, let alone drive it!!!

13.49 aith a 2.1 60 is great! Even with ASR OFF!

Great times! More practice, and WOW!

Yes Steve! I was scared to death when I saw the drivers door instead of the front end. After that run they shut down the track and cleaned that left lane all the way down to the turnoff road. Must have been some oil from a Rustang!
Yesterday around school ,she was the talk!

I think I can do better. She was leaving at idle. I like to try different rpms on the convertor for good launched with an automatic. I am just glad the SS was quicker than my old 1999 Z-28 t-top automatic.
