I know that my 2002 SLP has a special suspension from the factory. . .all it says on the order list is that it is a special suspension. . my question is what kind is it? does it have a name to it? What makes it better than the stock Camaro suspension, and is it as good as the bilstein and koni suspensions?

...my guess is that the "special suspension" you have 'is' the Bilstein package offered by SLP. Progressive rate springs, Bilstein shocks/struts, higher durometer LCA bushings, and larger sway bars...

Not neccesariy a Biltstein. The stock SS suspension is an upgrade from the Z28 I think. It is the DeCarbon shocks. I have the stock suspension and I think the sticker says something about a special suspension.

...Hmmm, you're right. I was thinking of what "optional" suspension SLP installs. ...now the BASE SS suspension, ...I'm not sure??? Posts: 1046 | From: Pine Bush, NY USA | Registered: Aug 2001

I am not at all sure but I think that the sway bar is bigger on the SS and the shocks are stiffer. I think the springs are the same on the SS and the Z28. I am sure that someone will know the answer to this in the morning.

Ain't it great? Pay $30k+ for the SS and Checy doesn't even tell us what we're buying? I asked about the suspension at the dealer, too, and got the standard, "Not sure, but it's an upgrade from the Z-28!"
Yeah, sure it is. What did they DO? Actually torque it in correctly or what? Does anyone out there know for sure what the "standard special suspenion" for the SS really consists of?
If so, please let the rest of us know! ... and THANKS!
