I just have to come in and say "HI!" to all the LS1 addicts in here. As everyone in here can see, we seemed to get addicted to LS1s. So watch out folks, this drug is very contageous...hehehe
I'm new and know nothing about the Camaro SS, until I bought my first SS last year. I was fascinated by the look and shape of it (besides the fact that it's a full blown V8).
I have managed to keep the car stock, with the exception of the Lid and K&N filter. I also have many opportunities to put NOS in the car but somehow my better side, or was that my bad side, talked me out of it.
What I want to focus on is modifications to the engine and exhaust first. I already know what type of exhause system I wanted but would like comments and ideas as to what I can do to the engine.
You see....a friend of mine just bought a 03 Cobra and somewhere down the line, we will meet. I would like to prep myself for him.

Welcome to the board...nice, low build number you have there. You're only 30-40hp behind your friend's Cobra, and he only has more than you from 5000rpm on up. I'd say he's within striking distance with relatively minor mods (so long as he doesn't do the same).

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome....but I would appreciate it if you folks can suggest some alternatives to how/what mods I can do to the engine w/ out emptying my wallet.
At the same time, I don't have lots of $$$ either.
Thanks again

Engine mods (Go Mods), not in any particular order: 1) SLP, Whisper, etc. air lid 2) Filter (K&N, Hoooey, etc) 3) Mid-length headers with 1 5/8" tubes and 3" collector, ceramic coated (long-tubes are better, but are not street-legal and have bad ground clearance) 4) Cat-back of your choice (Corsa, Borla, SLP LoudMouth, FlowMaster American Thunder, etc) 5) SLP Smooth MAF connector 6) Bigger throttle body
Stop mods: 1) Upgraded disc rotors (Baer Eradispeeds, GT, etc) 2) Stainless brake lines 3) Solo bleeders (see tbyrne motorsports on the web) 4) Hawk pads
Handling mods: 1) 1 3/8" front antisway bar (35 mm) 2) Upgrade rear traling links (Hotchkis, B&M, Edlebrock, etc.) 3) Shock Tower Brace (Same brands) 4) Panhard Rod (same brands) 5) Torque link (same plus a few others) 6) Sub Frame connectors (same as above, Hotchkis has some bolt-ins and the rest are weld-ins) 7) Maybe some 18" wheels with some 295 - 315 tires ... depends on your need for road course traction
I also went with billet pedals, just for looks, plus the 35th anniversary stripes on my Navy Blue Metallic 2002 Camaro SS.
Just some suggestions. By the time you are done, ya' coulda' had a Corvette! Of course, it wouldn't seat more than two people ... but, then again, neither does the Camaro in reality! At least in MY opinion (back seats are OK for a Toy Poodle who is a double amputee ... or a smaller dog or cat wrapped in duct tape).
