I was looking to get the Grot headers from QTP. What are the pros and cons of this header? I was thinking about getting the 1-7/8" header, with custom ypipe with dual cutouts.
-Also, would it be possible to lower the car with these headers??

The original "Groty" design is one of the best headers for the LS1 cars. Here's why:
1) Real performance gains
2) Fit is excellent! they are easily the best fit of ANY.
3) Quality is simply superior.
4) Great ground clearance.... even on lowered cars.
How do I know this? I am also selling them. My car was used as the prototype car to make the EGR & AIR system fittments on the LS1 applications. So, now you can install the BEST header & keep the emissions hardware intact. I am also building a HIGH QUALITY Y-pipe with or without cats. Cats are your choice of Random Technology ceramic or the new metallic (smaller, higher flow, more $$)cats.
Now, questions for YOU.....
What other mods do you have or will you be doing?
I'd recommend the 1-3/4" units for all but the meanest, biggest LS1s.
My units are avail with or without the emissions hook-ups & with or without Y-Pies.
See the web site for more details. Note that the site is not finished yet. If you have questions or would like pricing info. e-mail me please.

As Gordon has stated, the Grots are probably the best flowing headers out there for our cars - a first-class product from all reports! The only negative things I have heard have to do more with service and communication with the manufacturer. Long waiting times for product delivery and slow return of e-mails are the issues I am familiar with. Perhaps with a distributor now these concerns have been addressed and fixed. I have also been advised not to go with the 1 7/8" headers since at 367 RWHP, the car would not derive any benefit from the larger tube. And with respect to lowering the car, (FWIW)I have the SLP longtubes (less ground clearance than the Grots?)with the Level 2 Bilstein (1/2" - 3/4" lower than base SS suspension)and I have scraped a couple of times. Not a big deal.

ALL of the old issues with the Grotys have now been addressed. The problems were with Roger Grotyohan himself... not so much the actual manufacturer.
I am in direct contact with the builder. I know them from other projects before the Grotys and I am within a couple hour of thier shop.
As long as the orders are placed with appropriate lead time (takes them about 3 weeks to build a batch of them ... once they are fit into the production schedule), there are no problems.
The prototype set that was built on my car (with SLP subframe connectors) were nice & clear of everything and were no lower than the SLP connectors.
My car has Bilstein springs (which I can also sell .. and will be). They lower 1.5" from the stock WS6. NO PROBLEMS with the headers!!!!
My Y-pipe will also be nice & tight under the car.
