Well I contacted them before I bought my car... not a very helpful bunch of people! It felt just like I wasn't worthy of help/advice/membership. Really strange I guess you have to have a 1st gen with matching numbers or something like that. They are their own little group of people and don't want any new blood... that's my opinion of them. I get way more help from forums like this. They can take their club and shove it Posts: 154 | From: SWEDEN | Registered: Nov 2002

That's nice to know, I'm trying to decide whether to return to the UK - my work visa here in the US hasn't long to run, and I'd bring my car with me if it was worthwhile.

A couple of members from the Camaro Club Sweden flew to Kentucky last year for the big F-body event in Bowling Green. They went out of their way to track down where the SSOA was hanging out (Joey Red's room of all places, hogging down on Code Red Mtn. Dew "Sinks" and Oreos). They wanted to get F-bodfather shirts and visit with us for awhile. We even bought one of their club t-shirts (it's very cool). They were very nice and helpful in answering our questions about export Camaros, and one of them followed up with a detailed list of information after they got home. This info really helped us out in learning new facts & info.
As with any club, you're going to run into people that you do and don't have things in common. Maybe the people you met weren't into 4th Gen cars because they don't have one. We run into similar issues here in the U.S., too. It's just a matter of finding someone who is into the same thing you are and can relate.
One of the guys we met is OVE SJÖHOLM. I don't have his friends name, but they were both very nice guys. Ove said he'd like to keep in touch. I'm sure he'd really like to talk/meet you, too since you're in Sweden. His email addy is ove-@telia.com.
You'll have to contact HM Customs to find out the import duty and tax, but i think shipping is less than £1k.
email rybec.shipping@virgin.net. They are supposed to be excellent at shipping cars and they will be able to confirm price and tax.

Thanks, and welcome. I already checked, there's excise at 10% and VAT at 17.5%, but can be avoided as a personal import.

I'll try again then and this time get in touch with Ove... I must have met some "bad apples" Posts: 154 | From: SWEDEN | Registered: Nov 2002

Welcome. I am curious, like others: How do you handle driving the car on the wrong side of the road?

Welcome to the board jagsy. We're glad to have you with us. Good luck on your future mods! Quick question: are there many Camaros in England and how do people act toward them? Sounds like you have a nice Z28!
