I swear, I like some of the folks in our local F-body clubs, but sometimes it just torques me when they act like a bunch of kids, to which many are. Sometimes I just want to b*tch-slap some of them until I need rotator cuff surgery like a major-league pitcher.
All I was wanting to do was give everyone a heads up about SLP. It's not just that post, I guess it's the whole board, sometimes they act like 6-year-olds and the whole thing frustrates me. I haven't gone to a club meeting in 6 months for that reason. Sometimes I wonder if I'm on a Mustang board.
But I made a stand for SLP. Check out this post.... SCFYB.COM posting
Maybe I should form my own local club. I guess I'm spoiled from SLP boards and this one.

Couldn't have said it better myself el ess 1. Sure there are alot of other performance companies out there but as far as I am concerned not as good with the "bang for the buck" emphasis.
Don't let them get you down and you know the attitude here ( from what I can see ) is pro SLP.

I only had one issue with my car, but when I posted a picture of a blem on the SLP board. JeffY came right to it and said he wouldn't accept it if it was his (or something like that)
Dealer said it wasn't bad enough to replace and said "What do you expect, there not hand built cars."
JeffY shot back with, "They are hand built cars"
Because of that I ended up with (I beleive) the first chromed OE CME.
My entire relationship with SLP was top notch. I was upset with the board when a few poeple got banned, but those were not business decisions or customer service issues.
I still remember bothering Carm every few days as I would learn more and more about the Y2Y content...
"Hello Carm, yeah it's me again, Hey do you guys have my VIN yet? ...good, I decided to go with the Bilstein Suspension, CME and the 345hp airlid...OK than, yep, I'll talk to you tomorrow."
Some poeple just like to talk trash, I guess there parents just never taught them any better.
Thanks for your thoughts El ess1.

For what it's worth, I too have no complaints about SLP Eng or PP. I ordered my skip shift from SLP PP as well as my Y pipe and a front license plate bracket (although it's still in the plastic), and had them shippd within days of ordering. No problems/no hassles. The parts fit perfectly, ad the gains were noticeable. (now my GMMG, on the other hand, is another story, for another time!) I picked up an SS grille, SS portfolio, another Hurst shift knob, chrome lug covers, and a spare set of chrome valve stem caps from SLP eng, and they too shipped in days, had everything in stock, and with the exception of my birth certificate, I am completely satisfied. I can't speak for internal engine parts, so I won't, but SLP is OK by me.

I'll have to read that thread a little later. I am also signed up on that board, but haven't been there in a good while. I passed the info onto elcid69 since I know him, and he's a member there now too, but I don't know if he posts much. I live in Florence, almost exactly halfway between Columbia and Myrtle Beach, so there are not really any "local" meets for me to attend. Between full time college and full time working, I don't have time to travel an hour either way for meets...but I wish I did. The only thing I went to was the first shootout, and that's b/c it's a hop skip and jump from my house. The guy who signed up as "iftheresastripwewillcome", the talk of strippers at an event, the street racing stories (before two members got killed in Atlanta), and the general atmosphere kinda drove me away from the board.

Yep, that's the kinda thing that turns me off about some of the postings there. I do like some of the folks I did meet, but the median age seems fairly young, so maybe it's more of a generation gap. I really don't care about that so much as the fact that it's sorta difficult to have a mature and respectful conversation with some of the board post-whores and trash talkers. I guess that's more the underlying tone of that board, and the discussions seem to revolve a lot around menial crap that doesn't hold much value to me. It's ok if they want to go that route, but all they talk about is maximizing HP and going fast, and the things biSScuit talked about, etc. If you don't put in some high-performance hard parts in your engine, or do extensive mods, you don't get much respect over there. Max HP is ok, but they don't discuss perserving the heritage, and the things that revolve around our hobby in its basic form. I feel like my ideals don't quite mesh with theirs. Again, not their fault, we just don't see much eye to eye.
In contrast, this place, as well as the former SLP site, is very accomodating to different points of views, regardless of what they are. Perhaps because we have a conglomerate of folks across the nation and varying age groups. A more diverse group, essentially. At least you can disagree here without the loss of respect or feel like you're being attacked for voicing an opinion.

I have no complaints either with SLP. Dave even called when they had my car into SLP shop for the second sticker content! My SLP emblem broke so SLP sent a replacement to me in 2 days! SLP WAS?IS a great company.

Another SC guy here...I've been registered at that board since it opened, but don't post there very often...and I guess if that is their opinion of SLP and their products, I guess me and my Firehawk wouldn't fit in very well w/ them. I show w/ the Carolina F-body club when I get do some car shows and they seem pretty cool, but most of their club stuff goes on in NC, as most of the active members are up in that area.

I went through the same kinda stuff over on the KS F-body board for a while...........kids everywhere on that board.
Started irritating me a little, so I got with the founder of the board, (Hawkman from the SLP board) and got sum guidelines lined out. Took over as Moderator.........then for sum reason.......the punk kids seemed to git more scarce.........
And when they troll around now a days..........for sum reason their posts disappear.........

Your opinions are just that your's Doesn't make 'em right doesn't make 'em wrong. It would be a pretty boring world if everyone thought the same. Those who think like me however are not boring and sometimes I call them friends.
I get the same crap on my local forums so I don't visit them much. I reached the point where crap is to be flushed that actually happen shortly after I was potty trained...thanks Mom.
