hmmm, not having any of these radios, but am willing to buy some, excuse the stupid question but what is this thing about "subchannels"? Is this like the privacy codes they talk about in the radio descriptions? I've been looking at them and all they list for channels is 7 or 14 or 22 channels. Some say they have "x" amount of privacy codes too.

Anyone care to clarify this for me? Thanks in advance.

Under the message "SSOA Thursday" Teri gives some great information on FRS. I had to ask the same question since I knew nothing about them. We bought a set of Cobra PR240. Came with a charging stand, earpiece & mic, for around $38.00 from MC sports.
the privacy codes are the (sub channels) and these are all hand held, no need to mount in the car. They around the size of a cell phone.

Hope this helps.
