The tranny only has : P, R, N, OD, D, and 2. No "1". Is there a way to retrofit my tranny to have this? I want it to have it ba-ad.

your tranny does have the 1 just it is not on the selctor meaning you have the 2.73 gears. I have heard of some people that have modified it to make it go into "1". I believe it involves cutting because it will go into "1" but there is a piece of plastic blocking it.

He says this because my 2000 Z28 has 1-2-D and OD and he likes it when I can shift through and make it act like a stick. I have the 2.73's too by the way and still have the 1 but it might be because of my year model too.

I like being able to select my own gears. If I could have gotten an M6, i would have.

It was a 1/2 inch wide piece of plastic on the shifter plat, the cheap little plastic sliders. Removed that, and it worked fine! Now I just need a new indicator!
