Hey, has anyone had their low coolant light to come on and stay illuminated? I have checked my coolant and it is at the proper level, with no leaks. The engine is not running hot. The engine temperature gauge is operating normal. So, I was wondering if their could be another problem, besides the sensor being bad, that could cause this (e.g. reduced flow and eceteras)? Thanks for any help!

Park the car with thte bumper facing a wall, and see if the temp climbs, it MAY be the thermosatat, or some kind of build up, or just a bad sensor.

The low coolant sensors are notorious for going bad. I had to have mine replaced too. Have it replaced it is covered by warranty.

Its the sensor! take about 15 minutes to replace! Look just below the radiator cap and you should see a plug attached to the sensor into the radiator. Make sure engine is cool and there is a clip that keeps it attached to the radiator.. Part is not that expensive.

Thanks everyone! I do believe also that it is the sensor. I found by immediately shutting down the car and starting her back up that the light went off. The light hasn't come back on yet (still comes on briefly during start up). Thanks again!

Had mine changed for the same thing.
I parked on a steep slope. Stayed on after that until changed.

You guys may be right, but before giving your car up to the dealership for how ever long they want to take, I'd try purging the lines.

Mike,

Don't laugh at me, but I resolved the issue by turning the car off then on again and I haven't had the light illuminate (except when starting the car). Missed you at the gathering were you racing this weekend?
