You all are probably sick of me and my constant state of confusion! At idle my car seems to hesitate and the only indication of this hesitation is shown by the oil pressure gauge dropping 5 to 7psig. The RPM gauge stays right around 700rpm. Mileage wise I am getting the same great mpg (over 26 on interstate and 20 on back roads). Has anyone else had this happen to them and what was the remedy? Thanks for any help!

p.s.
I will be replacing the fuel filter this Friday. I haven't done that yet and the car's odometer is at 37,000 miles. I plan also to replace the plugs and wires if that does not remedy the solution.

Sounds like you may have a bad oil sending unit.

Thanks! I was wondering were the sending unit is located. Is it at the back of the block or front or is it near the oil filter? Thanks for the help!

On a LS1 I don't have the foggiest idea.
My suggestion is getting a Haynes Manual or equivalent. That should tell you most everything you need to know.
