My 1996 Comp T/A has a large oil leak from the front of the engine. It only leaks above 2500 rpm. It will not leak at idle or below 2500 rpm but as soon as you get above 2500 rpm it pours out. It is not the water pump drive shaft and not the crank shaft seal but some where in between. The only thing I can think of is the distributor drive shaft. Has anyone else seen this. It leaks so bad I can't drive it. I was wondering if you had to pull the timing chain cover to replace the seal. I have never seen an engine that had so many oil leaks pop up like this one. I also have to replace the intake gasket, because of an oil leak at the back of it. Any info would be a big help. thanks Posts: 24 | From: Geogia | Registered: Jan 2002

If you are having oil leaks pop up the PCV may be plugged up causing too much crankcase pressure. Get a GM repair manual for instructions on how to remove the suspected bad oil seals.

The car only has 66,000 miles. This is the second F- body I have had and this one looks like its got as many problems as my last one. I hope the LS-1 is better than the LT-1. I have had to replace way to many parts for the miles on the cars. I had a 95 Z-28 and sold it because it was starting to cost more than it was worth. I thought it was just that car but this one has even more problems going wrong. The front oil leak turned out to be the seal in the timing chain cover behind the dist.
