I have a 98 firebird with the vortec v-6. It is number 250 of 250 made. Everytime i go to start the car, it takes a while and sometimes i even have to press on the gas to get it started. Another thing is that i smell gas really strong for the first 5 seconds inside of the car. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks! [Confused]

Maybe flooding out from a fuel injector bleeding the fuel off. Coolant sensor may be thinking the engine is colder than it is causing the flooding.

Probably a leaking injector like 2002Z4CSS said. I had the same problem with the TPI on my truck.
It would start great cold, on a warm engine that was shut off for more than 5 minutes it would take forever to start.
