I have a 2000 TA 6 speed. Last week when I filled up I added a bottle of octane boost. As soon as I started the car after filling up, my "service engine soon" light came on. After reading my owners manual I thought maybe it was just the octane boost. A couple of days later, I started hearing a whining noise coming from the rear of the car when it's at an idle. It doesnt seem to make it while I'm moving, only when I'm stopped. Any idea's?

The whinning noise may be the electric fuel pump.Get the code that is stored in the ECM.Some autoparts stores will retrieve the code for free.

I have a 01 WS6 and it started the same noise a few weeks ago. Mine comes and goes, but it never triggered a SES light. The only thing I can think of is the fuel pump. I can't think of anything else in the rear that would make that kind of noise sitting still. If you find out for sure please let me know.......Scott
