Who has a trailer hitch on their SS? If so what brand and are you happy with the fit? Does it clear exhaust, etc.? Looking at building a small trailer for luggage and cleaning supplies, etc. for going to shows, also can be used for hauling the race tires.

Thanks for the replies. I have a class 3 Hidden Hitch on my pick up and used a Draw Tite on the old station wagon that was used for the tow car before being replaced by a truck.
I just looking for information from people that had different hitches, where they could said don't get brand y because it scapes on pulling out of the driveway or don't use brand x because the right exhaust pipe hits it. That kind of information. Guess not many people have hitches on their SS's.
Did a search on the net and they don't tell you much beside price. Considering I be towing less than a 1000 lbs., I probably end up making my own.

Mike Furtaw has one on his '99 SS. I think it's the Hidden Hitch brand. I haven't heard any complaints from him. He tows a utility trailer to the track w/his spare tires, tools, etc. in it.

I have a hiden hitch brand. no complaints. it took about 1.5 hours to install. The directions say 15 minutes NOT!! So as long as you dont have the single exhaust you will be fine

What is about the most you could pull with an Fcar? Just small cargo trailers, or could you pull like a waverunner or two on a trailer?

Yes that exactly what I need, but it's not likely to happen. Have decided to wait until after BG to put my hitch on, that way I can look at any hitches that are at BG and decide which one I want. Don are you serious about making a hitch????
Just got back from a few days in Fla. Trip down wasn't to bad, but with everything the wife wanted to bring back it was a little crowded in the car coming home. Got to get that trailer built.

The owners manual says that you can tow 2000 pounds with a tongue weight of 200 pounds. Going to Bowling Green in June, I saw a 6 clyinder 4th gen Camaro towing a prettty good size boat. Was quite a bit over 2000 pounds, I wouldn't want to do it, but he was. I'm wanting to build a small trailer to put my race tires on and a suitcase or 2 for when I go to events like BG, or the next time we go to Fla to see the in-laws.

I made it sandwich the original sheet metal in the back of the car, with strengthening plates on the inside. 4 bolts on each side of the car go into existing stock factory holes, with no mods to the car. You do have to cut the cwap out of the fiberglass and plastic crush/bumper support pieces, and a small hole behind the license plate in the bumper cover, but thats it. Then it has bolt on gussets that go foreward and attatch to the exhaust hanger bolt holes to keep it from twisting the rear of the body down. Steve wanted one for years for his '68 convertible, but never ran across a good rear end of a car to do it.
We were at a local salvage yard looking for an extra set of door panels for our SS when we came across a '95 Convertible 6-cyl whose front end was toast. The back end was fine, so we bought it and that started us on a "Monster SST". Final fit & finish has been put off for money reasons, but we have a friend who says he could help us have it pretty and smooth in a weekend. Then it needs a new hinge for the front engineered (for easier opening). Then all we'd need is to get it painted. See, the projects never end at our house! We have half a dozen lined up. My Chevelle, Steve's El Camino, the 1955 vintage travel trailer, the '98 SLP car, Steve's other '68 Camaro, and the entire interior of the garage, including utilities. UGH!
