I have a 2001 SS. Looking for a very loud, mean, and deep sound. I going more for that Deep Echo sound. I see Borla, Corsa, SLP, Hooker, Flowmaster. Any input for headers and muffler! What do you have and do like it? Thanks! [Smile] [Smile] [Smile]

Here is an earlier post from Lisa that gave some ideas on exhausts. Hope this helps. [Big Grin]

The Magnaflow system is very nice. A true Cat back system, as opposed to the SLP one that came on my SS. It's polished SS, is a straight through design and gives you that deep rumble the Camaros of yesteryear had( as opposed to the tinny sound of the flowmasters).

I just had the GMMG put on last week and I love it! It sounds unbelievable at idle and a nice deep roar under acceleration. I already had the SLP Performance Y-Pipe installed, so I think it makes a little more noise than the stock Bergers. The optional polished tips look great. Just use a little Eagle 1 Never Dull to keep them looking like new.

I like the Corsa Exhaust myself, sounds great at WOT yet reasonably quiet at cruise.

I recently purchased the adjustable borla although haven't installed it yet. From what I've heard it doesn't sound bad, although I have heard better.

The only reason I went with Borla was because I got it cheap locally.

If I had the choice I'd go with the GMMG! [Wink]

How loud is the GMMG at 75 to 80 on the interstate? I still have the stock SS exhaust right now, looking for something that is nice at WOT and has a nice idle, but that I can live with on the interstate for 6 to 7 hours at a time.

The sound is very manageable at highway speeds as long as you stay out of the accelerator. It roars at wot [Big Grin]

I recently had the GMMG exhaust installed on my SS and I absolutely love it! Cruising on the highway with the GMMG is not bad at all. It has such an awesome rumble! I highly recommend it.

lilred-

The GMMG is absolutely awesome. I have it and the SLP y-pipe and it sounds just wonderful in sixth gear at 75-80. A noticeable rumble, no drone and not at all objectionable. Drop it down a gear or two, get it over 3K, and oh yeah, does it wake up! It screams at WOT, and finally gave my SS some snarl. I love it. We had the first NJ F-bod gathering at the Deptford Mall two weekends ago here in NJ, and the fellow F-boders heard me before they saw me! I got nothing but compliments. It's well worth the $700.00. Go for it.

I went from SLP dual-dual to GMMG chambered exhaust. I heard the GMMG on another LS1 and it was true love at first sight! Pure "mean" sound yet, not obnoxious!

I have a GMMG built SS with the Chambered Exhaust. Love the sound and with the double overdrive, its smooth at high way speeds. [Big Grin]

Well my $0.03 (Cdn) I'm partial to the Borla.

It's level is adjustable with the plates - and
they work. It's expensive unless you get in
on a G.P. - but it really is an individual thing.

Try to hear as many as you can at various speeds
and then decide.

I guess I am different...LOL

I am going to have a set of true duals made by Lane in Irving, TX put on this week. IMHO, it is the best sounding exhaust setup you can have on an F-car. 499 installed. [Big Grin]

Are you having tailpipes done? Or dump before the rear axle?? I LOVE the chrome tailpipe look -- like Corsa premium tips....Lane said he could probly do that if I get them chromed somewhere....
I want the chrome to extend waaayyyy back under the car -- not just the tips....
