Well, if it wasn't already bad enough that my 45K mile car has to have a rear main seal, when I the shop removed the tranny today, they found that my clutch is fried. It drove fine I don't understand. Anyway, he said that the car had been driven hard! Surely not I said. Got the clutch, flywheel, disc, and throw out bearing from Chevrolet for $400. Not bad considering list is $695. What a day.

Just curious, why would you replace a clutch that went bad in 45K miles with the same kind?

Thank you for your support. I have only had the car maybe 1500 miles, so whoever had it before took immaculate car of it, but drove it hard. I didn't think it was that bad considering the price. But later I found out that I could have used an LS6 clutch instead. Oh well

Installed a Z06 clutch (FW, disc, PP) from gmpartsdirect for $385. BTW, it has the same part numbers as the units I took out. So...if you had it replaced with the 2001 SS unit, it is the Z06 (LS6) clutch set.
