I am planning on purchasing a floor jack so I can easily remove my wheels for a thorough cleaning and paint my brake calipers. I'd like to jack the car up and rest it on jack stands so I can have both front or both rear wheels off at the same time. Can anyone instruct me on the proper points on which to jack my car up (front and rear)? Also, where should I place the jack stands? I want to avoid potentially damaging the car......Thanks for any info you can provide.

A little trick I learned from Steve da Wrench (using a good floor jack with low saddle height):

Slide it in from the front and lift by the K-member, resting the swaybar mounts on the jackstands (drive onto 2x6's for extra clearance). Move to the rear, and lift by the differential, again resting the swaybar mounts on the jackstands (if you lift the front too much, the jack may not fit under the muffler).

A couple things to keep an eye on:
- Make sure the saddle doesn't try sliding off the K-member when jacking up the front.
- Make sure the saddle doesn't put any pressure on the differential cover when jacking up the rear.

Don't let her rock off of the jack stands while jacking the other end of the car. [Smile]

KBDD's make the best jacking points. You might want to consider them in the future. For now, I know the jacking points are outlined in the manual (and in the link posted above). If I remember correctly, there are two notches in the thin lip on either side of the car. The lip is located about 6 inches inboard from the door panels. I believe the notch is the factory recommended jacking point. In and around that general area is usually a fairly solid place to put a stand. I wouldn't recommend using any suspension points or underbody components if you don't have to.

Think about those SFC's though. They have all sorts of residual value.
