Does anyone know if the engine programming for a stock 2002 SS is different from a police version (B4C?) of the same model year ??
There are a couple of employees at a local Chvey dealer in the Dallas area that claim there is a performance difference in the programming, and they "redo" the computer settings on Camaros for "cash," substituting the Z/28 or SS program in the car with "police tuning."
I am doubting there is any difference, so I wanted to check it out with you'all before giving in to temptation. Feedback is appreciated.
Thanks !!

The only way I would change your SS tuning is with LS1 edit and best get someone to dyno tune it that has edit is the best way. I would say your SS has better tuning than a b4c to begin with. According to Scott aka F-Bodfather a b4c is a stock Z/28 without the Z/28 trim

I asked this a few years ago. We have a local B4C that the head of the police fleet told me has special programming for it. Jeff Y told me that's bunk.
I don't know what Chevy told the police departments, or if they've done something and didn't tell SLP.

I could swear that the Fbodfather mentioned that the ECM programming for the Z28 and the B4C are exactly the same. I believe that I heard the only real difference between these cars is the B4C uses 1LE rear control arms,no Z28 badging, and a painted roof band.

No, I don't think there is any tuning done, like Greg said plus I think they put a bigger alternator to handle the extra lights and radio's.
