Hi, I'm new to the forum but if anybody can help me that would be great. I just installed a SLP airbox lid on my 2000 SS and there are gaps on the drivers & passenger (<how do you spell it) side of the airbox. Is this normal? Should it be sealed? My gas mileage has gone down by about a mile per gallon. (I thought it would increase) but performace has not suffered. Also, I installed a K&N filter w/gasket when I did the airbox. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance - John B

Do you have any way of posting pictures of the air box as it sits? The only think I can think of is the little tabs on the back of the airbox arew not seated in their slots correctly...Pics would really help...

Moving to Tech section, too. [Big Grin]

It sounds like the gasket and filter are causing the airbod not to sit right. Be sure the lid is all the wya back so the lip of the base sticks up in front of the top of the lid. Try your stock filter to see if there is something going on with the filter itself.

HM Murdock & DaddySS, Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can get some pics when it's not raining here. But I'm pretty sure the box is sitting right, all four tabs are in there slots and the gap is kinda in the middle of both sides. Also when I re-installed my air temp sensor I broke the little plastic gaurd strips. I'm not seeing a check engine light so I thought it is working but know I'm not so sure. Any thoughts guys?

PS I've been gone two weeks so I'm just catching up on my e-mail. Thanks again

Not sure what you mean by gaurd strips. But as long as the ATS is connected to the wires it will read the surrounding air temp. Sorry can't help on the air box, mine's a 97.
