Need some tips on how to change spark plugs on my 96 (SLP) SS in my driveway. The repair shops want 400.00 to do it. It can't be that dificult...Can it?

I just changed mine out to some Bosch 4 platinums. Took me about 1 hour 15 minutes to do. Driver's sides is a walk in the park. A nightmare on the passnger side. You'll have to get #8 from under the car.
Use lots of patience and maybe some Mechanix gloves. My knuckles are still bruised from the change out and that was 2 days ago.

The Driver's side is not a major problem, but the passenger side...Well, I'll tell you now..Drop the starter and Y-pipe...That will make it 10X easier. Just be VERY careful with the Y-pipe to manifold bolts...They shear easily.
Moving to Tech section, too...

$400 seems way too much! I had mine changed when the M6 was out for warranty work. TR55 plugs were $36 and labor was $180 (their labor rate is $72/hr, so that comes out to 2.5 hrs). I'll probably do the next change.

I did the job on my 96 Impala. Replaced the wires while I was at it. You have to remove a bunch of brackets etc., took me 9 hours! Depending on your mileage, I would recommend doing the wires if they haven't been replaced.
