...Hey y'all...Hot Rod Magazine has announced that their 2001 Power Tour will start on May 3rd and this year it's going to run East to West. The best part is...get this...it's going to start in Detroit and run as much as possible on old Route 66 in commemoration of the highway's 75th anniversary. I think it would be absolutely killer to hook up in Detroit and make the whole tour...or as a minimum for those of you who live along the route to hook up with the tour when it came though your area...I know a lot of f-body owners live within 100 miles of Route 66. We have a half year to plan this...I think it would be most righteous indeed. I've been saying I was going to make this exact cruise on Route 66 for the past 5 years now...think that 2001 may just be the year I do it...
...life is just too short...and it gets shorter with each passing day...sometimes you just gotta throw caution to the wind and DO IT!!!

I'm going to do my best to run the whole route. Several of the members of the Camaro Club od San diego are making plans to have their cars shipped to Detroit and drive them back. I will drive both ways, visiting friends and relatives on the way. Check out: http://www.emapusaevents.com/touring_events/te_f.html
for information. No stops yet on this site however.
I think it would be great for a large number of SSOA members to show up. We could travel as a group. I just hope my personal situation allows me to participate.

Aye Bo, Corina is due Mid June, so mid May would be near the very end of the pregnancy. I'm going to try to find a co-pilot to go with me, some one that I could trust to drive my Hawk back should the need arise. it looks as though the pickins are slim. I don't think I could trust any of my friends with my Hawk. Maybe Dan would ride with me or something....
We will just have to see & I may just have to make last minute changes, but fer now everything is looking up

If it comes to that, Grace can drive the SS back and I'll drive your car back. That is if I can make it. It sounds like a great idea, I just don't want to be one of those people that says yea, yea, yea then reneges. I am not sure yet if I can. We hav e abig product launch around then, I have a golf trip in Feb. I'll have to wait till we get closer. Posts: 5946 | From: Litchfield, NH, USA | Registered: Feb 2000

Hey Kevin - I may be able to volunteer for the Co-pilot position. I'm not sure if the wife wants/needs another long trip, just yet. I'll know better sometime in Feb.

Sounds great. I'm really looking forward to this. I'll have to pass on the Feb golf trip though. Gotta save vacation time for when the baby comes Posts: 2502 | From: Binghamton, NY | Registered: Feb 2000
