I'll be installing an MTX amp in the SS once it arrives and I thought I'd make some advanced preparations...

Where is the best place to get through the firewall to run the power cable?

Where is the best place to pick up the 12V, ignition-activated, amp turn-on signal? I'd prefer a place somewhere in the area of the stock head unit, since I plan to place a switch in that area to control the amp from the cockpit. A specific location and wire color would be greatly appreciated!

..and keep in mind it's a 2001.

Thanks!

Hey John, I just installed an Alpine 5 channel amp in my 2000 SS. Best place for the power wire to go through is passenger side corner of the engine bay. Take the kick pannel off in the passenger foot well. Unbolt the black bracket that holds the computer in the passenger side corner of the enging compartment. You should now see a grommet that you can pass through. Are you using the stock Monsoon system? If so, you should be able to clip into the blue wire in the stereo harness for the amp turn-on. I believe it's light blue. It's pretty easy to pick out. Good luck.
