Actually, the parking brake on these puppies is a little drum brake inside the rotor. I have no idea how to adjust it.

PoSSum you are correct the rear E-Brake is a small drum in the base of the rotors. The shoe keepers had come off of mine at 5000 mi. and only sounded off over Zot dots or Lane markers. No noise now at 16000 mi. I was thinking that there should be a cable adjust for the hand brake but at what end or in the middle?
SS3816 The brake pads and rotors are in good condition.

ugghh .. thats right they are using an inside drum style on 4th gens ...I'm still stuck on the 3rd gen systems ... anyway .. the adjuster Y bar should be in the middle of the car where the cables from each side meet up ..I have my car on jack stands .. so I will take alook underneath tonight .. if you want me to.

That would be great, please let me know, it will save me from jacking up the SS if it is not there.
Thanks, Phil

I looked under the SS .. the two cables go into one in the tunnel right above the driveshaft .. however there is no adjuster .. must be ajustable under the console at the e-brake?

Is there some adjustment at the brake drum where the cable attaches?

Park Brake Shoe Adjustment

Important
Do not operate the park brake lever while the rotor is removed.

Remove the rear tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
Disconnect the rear cable from the brake shoe lever.
Pull on the lever until there is a firm stop. Release the lever and measure free lever travel at the cable interface. If the travel is less than 10 mm, adjustment is complete. If the travel is more than 10 mm, further adjust brake shoe.
Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
Rotate the adjustment nut with a screwdriver in order to extend the slotted tappet in order to increase the gap between the adjuster nut and the screw by .38 mm.

Agjuster is under the rotors .. with the parking brake shoes.

SS3816:
A big Thank You, I thought this thread had died. I went for a service manual and none were available for my 99.

This board is the best, Thanks to all you Guys and Girls out there.
