I have approximately 21K miles on my factory tires. All the tires except for the front drivers side are wearing evenly. The front drivers side tire has worn more on the outside edge along the tread indicator. I've noticed each time I've rotated the tires that the front drivers side tire has shown more wear on the outside edge on the tread wear indicator

I have tried to rotate my tires every 5K-7K miles and have been very meticulous about keeping the tires balanced and front end aligned.

Is this a normal phenonmenon? Or, is there some kind of tire wear dynamics associated with the front drivers side?

Thanks for the feedback.

The outside of the front tires will wear more, due to the factory alignment. It's normal. Its caused by moderate to heavy cornering.
I, too, rotate mine, but before I get my winter tires off, I'm going to have my 17's unmounted and rotated side to side, to start using up some of that 'prime' inside tread.

I think I still have my specs posted on my site in the sig.

My front tires also wear more on the outside. I have almost 22k on mine.

My original F1s are doing pretty much the same thing - and I do very little hard cornering. The first pair was pretty much toast by 15K miles.

I'm inclined to wonder if this sort of thing is just a phenomena of the P.O.S. tires that come on GM vehicles from the factory.

I had pretty much the same sort of thing going with the tires on my Bravadas a number of years ago. Replaced them the first couple of times with the same type of tire that originally came on them and went through a set with the edges worn to the belts about every 18 months. Since switching to a different (better) tire, I'm going close to 5 years now on the tires with no signs of abnormal wear.

Think of it as a good opportunity to switch to something like the SZ-50EP. Gotta look for that silver lining!

I think his question is about the DRIVERS side tire wearing more. That is not normal.

I know the front tires wear more on the outsides, that makes sense, but the driver and passenger should be the same unless you take all right turns.
