I am looking for some honest opinions.
I am sure that this topic has been discussed
many times before but I am going to ask anyways! Obviously installing an aftermarket
air lid on our cars is one of the first mods
alot of guys do. I will be honest, I am sceptical of the hp increases that these companies claim these lids produce. What I want to know is if you can feel a difference in SOTP performance? I realize that this mod would be better if included with other mods that get more air into the engine (cam, ported heads, LS6 intake!!), basically I want to know if it is worth it to spend the $200.00 for one of these. Thanks guys this is where belonging to this club is a real bonus!

U R correct - it is usually the first mod.

I did it. Could not feel any difference. I am
sure no one can tell 5 hp diff on a 330hp motor but.... I do like the cleaner look.

I'm willing to bet it does better than the stock lid. If you take off the stock lid and look at all the ridges you know its blocking air from coming in. I think some people have dynoed their cars before and after but I don't know what kind of gains they got.

Hawk,

Where did you get the decals that are on your air lid?

The SLP decal I got from Scott Goldsmith -
a.k.a. Orange Peel. He arranged a group deal on different colours. The Build # I think was from Heartland Graphics.

Hope that helps.

I've got the carbon fiber MTI lid. It looks awesome.

I did it for looks. Like Hawkeye said who's gonna feel 5HP? If I did it again I'd get the clear one.

I also swapped my lid out merely for cosmetic purposes. There are some that say they feel a difference...me I felt nothing. However, I think it looks a lot better!
I plan to dyno mine with the stock lid and with the Whisper Lid. I just don't have the time right now.
