This may sound like a stupid question but I don't understand why the hood scope on my 2000 SS is not functional. Can someone please explain this to me.

It is functional. Look at the underside of the hood and the way air is channeled into the air cleaner.

The air inlet to the airbox is directly in front of it on the underside of the hood. Those big round things on the underside of your hood is the duct work that channels the air from the grille on the outside to the opening on the inside.

I open the hood and did not see and opening where the air would come in from outside, I guess I was just dumb enough to beleive that it did not function. This is the first SS I have owned since 1969, I was use to driving just a Z-28.
