Well, I got up with EFA and hit the track today with a lot of adrenaline kicking. My very first time running on the drag strip. I have been wanting to get times in on my ride for a looooong time. Well, that time came today...
Myself along with Jerry, and Jeremy (N2O) cruised into Capitol Raceway to get some numbers from my Z.
Well, there ya have it. The first run I was snoozing, no doubt...and it's caught on tape. Doh!
Second run I felt pretty damn good on....thanks to Mike coaching on the cell as I was heading into the burn out lane.
Third run I was power braking with too much RPMs....should've listened to Mike like I did the 2nd run.... So, I caught a lot of spin and I even got some spinning once I hit 2nd. Oh well, it was a lesson learned.
All and all....I'm done....ADDICTED!!
I am so glad that I got my numbers in before the LT4 conversion and the Long Tubes with a higher Vigilante Torque Converter stall. Pssst, don't tell Bern....and a 75 shot of juice.
Thanks for your coaching Mike.
Hey, not too bad for my first time ever and a stock engine with 300+ more pounds than coupes, ground effects, larger spoiler, and street tires.

I'll be feeling that same adrenaline rush at Englishtown. That'll be my first time at the 1/4. Nerves will be flying on SLP dat that's for sure.

I'm so done! I can't wait to get more times in on the strips. Although, no more will be made with my baby until after the LT4 conversion, long tubes....and a small shot of juice.
But yes, I'm so hooked on this. I was only able to make 3 runs, but it looks like I may be getting this down pretty well and want to keep at it. Think I found a new hobby....doh....that's going to hurt the wallet. But hey, you only live once and I want to have fun with my life whether I live it long or short....I want to look back and say I had the time of my life!
O.K. then here's the trick. Hammer that puppy just after the last yellow - before you see green and get that R.T. down into the high 5's. If you see green, you're probably too slow on the R.T.

Enjoy
It's on! I'm looking at Centerlines right now....and I'd have to get a roll bar. Damn, this is getting worse and worse by the every thought I get. Doh!

Keep us posted on the roll bar front ... I have not seen anything yet that I would want to drive around with ... nevermind what it would do to the heads of anyone sitting in the back in a collision situation.

poSSum, the backseats are coming out, so there will be no one riding around back there. Not worried about that.
I've given some careful consideration here because I don't want to take away from the looks of the ride too much as I want it to still be a street driven ride.
I've been thinking about also getting the Tonneau Cover that is sold by both RKSport and DGMortosports and have it custom cut and painted to fit in with the rollbar if I decide to drop the top for a weekend cruise.

So much depends on the overall use of the car. I will not give up the back seat. If I wanted a two seater I'd stop the mod's and save for a 'vette.
Until I find a solution I can live with I plan to work on my RT, 60' and 1/8 miles times when I'm at a strict track and coast in to keep e.t.'s in the 14's.
On the tonneau I would want to ride in a car with them to see how they affect the backdraft before I committed .. our solution was vertical, and it's been highway tested to near freezing temperatures.

Niiiice broh. That is a good point to bring up on the back draft however, I would think that there would be none. If you look at the way they are made...I don't see where that could be an issue, but never the less, it is a good thing to look into.
Well, I didn't buy this car because of the 4 seats and I don't need the other two and I don't want a Corvette....so there's no need to keep em there. Lighten up the load and I'm set!
