cobraeater, Wow, sounds good! So this just bolts up to the stock Y pipe and Cats? For the chambered exhaust challenged could you explain how the system works. No muffler, just "chambers" in the pipes? What kind of cockpit sound is there at highway speeds?

It's like any other exhaust, you put it on after the y-pipe. It just looks different. All the exhaust goes through the chambers which help tune the sound. And in any gear if you're just crusing it's quiet, but when you get on the gas it starts to get louder. On the highway there's supposed to be no resonation.

Hey! You can say Braxxton and Chambered and CMMG on this board without fear of being filtered. How cool is that!! Posts: 6 | From: Orlando, FL | Registered: Oct 2000

Well, I suppose if anyone is going to get shot its me! You know, I brought this up several weeks ago because I believed the system deserved recognition for its worth. The GMMG system has been on my 2000SS for about a month or so now, words cannot descibe the pure joy of driving my car, especially now since the Chambered System went on. I had a 69' Z-28 in 69' with the Chambered System, the little 302 sounded like a big block and now the LS1 has that same sound. Hopefully Matt at GMMG will give me something for getting the word out on this system, say a new grille insert? Thanks cobraeater! This is an interesting design concept.
Randy, the chambered exhaust has been around since '69? Wow, I had never heard of it until now. We used to do the glasspack thing in the early '70's. They sounded good on my SS-396 until the fiberglass burned out.
Glad you will make it Saturday. Maybe I could go for a ride in your Chambered System SS!
I love the new exhaust. Gonzo (smoknz28) helped me install it in about an hour. We had to cut off the stock one (since we didn't want to have to drop the rear axle). That took most of the time. The Braxxton mounts on the stock hangars and goes on real easy. The only problem is that mine went on a little crooked, so I have to get under there again and working on getting the tail pipes lined up straight (I'm picky about that stuff). The other problem I had was that the clamps they sent me had some stripped threads on them. Not a big deal, I was able to salvage one of them and the other I just replaced with a new one from the auto parts store.
The sound is great. It gets loud around 2500 rpm and with your foot in it, you really know it. But, in 5th or 6th cruising down the road, it quiets down real nice for cruising down the highway. Keep in mind that I have a convertible, so I get a bit more engine and road noise then you guys with the coupes (especially with the top up). But other than that, I think it's great.
Also, the exhaust doesn't have a muffler. It has two chambers (one on each tail pipe before it bends to come out the back). If you want, post back or send me an e-mail and let me know and I'll try to get some pictures of the underside of the car for you.

If you got the system from GMMG, its not a Braxxton! Also, if any of the clamps that were sent to you are defective, call GMMG and let them know, they will make it GOOD. GMMG installed my system on the 2000SS, I used my stock SS tips for that stock appearance. No doubt one of the best decisioins that I have ever made, and the guys at GMMG or first rate. Hard to believe that this system was on my original 69' Z-28 in 69'. Sure has Wayne, made only a few before Uncle Sam made them stop because it was a whole lot louder that a stock system. You can still purchase this system for a 69' Z, the difference is that the original system used real dual/dual exhaust and even the straight pipes were chambered. I got the system from a guy named Matt Murphy. The phone number I called him at was listed under GMMG, Inc on the website. and he called it a Braxxton system. Whatever it is, it sure sounds cool. I wasn't too worried about the clamps. One of them I was able to fix and the other one I picked up for about $2. Not a big deal, I've enjoyed the exhaust so much so far it's more than made up for that $2

Here's some pics of MOO4340's Chambered Exhaust. He's also known as Kickback on SLP's board. Go here www.cobraeater.cz28.com/images . Moo polished it up with Mother's Metal Polish and Fast Action Polish from Race Glaze. The exhaust has a mirror-like chrome finish which is awesome! I'm going to have to try that stuff on my SLP dual/dual exhaust. I think it's pretty cool when you can see your reflection on your exhaust.
