Thanks Teri - but I thought maybe it would come out cleaner. It's a photo of a fax.

I sure hope there's some truth in there, but if we read "All Corvette's are Red" then GM management probably did too and is keeping an eye out for clandestine development operations.

The Camaro we have right now is a great car. The best reason to keep the car is the ford mustang. If Pontiac and Chevy drop their F-body cars and have nothing to take their place they will have just given the field to ford. The article said there were 43000 Camaros made, giving that number of additional sales to ford would make them very happy.
In order to increase sales they need to advertise the car and market the thing. I for one did not set out to buy a Camaro initially and did not find it because of anything General Motors did, more like in spite of their lack of activity. I still hope that the car is saved as I would keep buying them as long as they make them.

It almost looks like GM wants us to spend more money for the Corvette to get Gm performance. I had a 73 Vette. and was looking in 99 but got the SS instead. I only liked the Vette in certain colours and in the conv., but here in Canada, only certain GM dealers can sell them, so I couldn't get one within 100 miles from where I live. That was a big turn off, but I glad I got the SS. The SS gets more notice then any Vette does and as far as I'm concerned, it performs about the same.

Last week on Car&Driver TV, their lead story was on the '01 Cobra. They made a big deal over the fact that they now are making all of their advertised 320 horses. The f-bodies are still better performers. They also mentioned that since the f-bodies are going away, Ford is targetting the Vette as the comparison car for the Mustang.
What a joke!!
While understanding that setting lofty goals gives a company a sense of direction and something to strive for, if they thought they were getting spanked in performance by the f-bodies, they've got a really big hill to climb to come close to even running in the same league, much less beating, the Vettes.
It's typical of GM though to kill off a model line after they've evolved into the irrefutable best in their class. I'd love to see C&D TV do a show on WS-6 or SS vs Cobra and settle the matter once and for all. There's no question who'll be eating the humble pie.
