My wife runs a day care center, and the day before we left for Australia, she had to turn a parent in to the Department of Child Protective Services for child abuse
The childs physical therapist noticed some bruises, told my wife who HAD to make the call. Under NYS law they have to report child abuse. They examined the child, and put him in a foster home. She called the other day to see how he is doing, and they said much better. He does not cause as much problems now as he used to. CPS would not tell my wife (confidentiality) why they CPS had taken her other 3 kids away in the past few years!
I hope they force this woman into counseling.
I think I will keep my job, thats one phone call I would not want to be involved with.

My daughter was a Guardian Ad Litem with Child Services for several years, and had several such cases and had to make several such calls. It finally took it's toll on her, and she left that job to become an armed security shipment courier. Now she packs a Sig Sauer 9mm when she's at work (among others)...but it's a lot less stressful than her old job...

Fortunately it does not happen very often. This is the first time she has had to do it. it is a very stressfull situation. I'm just glad it's over and that the child is in a better place.

My wife and I had to go thru that with our grandson. Our son and his wife are very selfish and selfcentered and the kids are secondary. Our grandson spent several months in foster care. The parents didn't know his whereabouts, but we did and got to visit. They convinced the judge all was good again and that they were straightened out and got custody back, but, unfortunatly they had another child, unplanned by both, and they've moved to another state. Sorta split up and back to their old habits. Drugs affect more than their abuser.
now I'm choked up again and feel the tingle of rage.

I here ya Mike. Your grandson is a great kid. And I could always tell he was happy when he was with you both. Even when he "HAD" to talk on the headset.
