I have a 2001 SS convertible with the neutral colored top. It is starting to get a few small black spots on it and I am wondering what products you other 'vert owners are using to clean it and also to waterproof it as mine doesn't bead at all. It doesn't leak but it seems to soak up the water. Also, is the top vinyl or fabric?

I have a 2000 vert and my neighbor is the vert top installer for a rental car agency.

Since he sees the awful side of top care, asked him how to protect my top.

Was told to wash top with mild soap and water. Let completely dry, then get spray-on scotchgurard to waterproof the top.

The top is a german sailcloth material.

I use "Amazing Roll Off" as a cleaner ... it is specifically developed for sails, and 303 High Tech Fabric Guard as protectant. I tried regular Scotchguard and it lost it's effectiveness virutually immediately.

I sourced the products through Autopia. They have an excellent roadster top care section.

To clean of lint that washing does't remove I use packing tape, and for drying I use "The Absorber".

The experts say wash your top with mild soap, rinse then apply 303 protectant.

Driving a 'Vert is truly awesome!
