OK gang, need some thoughts and input here regarding my track technique.

My first time ever at the track was last year at SLP day I. Best time was 13.8 and that was with really bad R/T.

My goal this year at SLP II was to at least beat that, and I thought with the SLP Lid and K&N and all the talking I did with folks on what I did wrong along with the advice I've read on the boards, that I would easily be able to do that.

Unfortunately I didn't even come close, best time this year was 14.08. So here's where the advice comes in - I've listed below the best times and although I know you can only tell so much from them, any insight would be appreciated.

The scene: Engine was a bit too warm after waiting to get in for 1 1/2 hours and having to run the A/c cause my family was in the car. Brought revs up to about 1700 - 1800. Fuel tank was a bit too full - 3/4 tank.

The stats:
SLP I...........SLP II

Temp 57.........68

I'm certainly no pro at this but others have said that 0.10 sec in your 60' time = 0.15 sec in the quarter. Looking at your 330' and MPH makes me think you've got a little more power and may not have gotten a very good 1 - 2 shift. Reaction time doesn't have any impact on e.t. but very commonly determines the winner.

I know of a fellow that is working on a tool I have been wanting for a long time ... a G-tech type unit that has a Christmas tree and records reaction time and 60' times. That would really help practicing away from the track.

Your MPH picked up some this year so we know your making more power. You need to factor in the long wait with the car running, a 10 degree warmer day, and the weight with the fuel. Also what was the barometric pressure difference year over year, that plays a big role. Put them all together and you could have your difference. Try going to a smaller track than E town that has less of a wait so you can get more runs in.
