Next time you're in your fav magazine store...pick up the new "Automobile"! Inside, find an article on a new Australian pavement-burner called the HSV GTS-R from GM's Aussie subsidiary Holden. it a 4-door sedan with a honking big American V-8 in the front end, an LS-1, massaged by the good folks at Calloway in Connecticut...driving the rear wheels! It's on a Catera chassis...has independent front...AND REAR suspension, huge brakes and does 0-100 in 12 sec. !!!
Now, put an re-designed 2-door sports body on this chassis, put the controls on the left side and make it here.
What do you think we could call it?????

It's interesting, after all the speculation earlier in the Spring, to see a Catera...with an LS-1, already on the road. I haven't seen more than but a fleeting glance, but seems to me Holden also builds a 2-door car that's styled very close to the current Camaro...but smaller...could it be on that same Catera chassis???

Actually, we should have that rumored new aluminum OHC V-6 for the base engine. I'd still like to see an OHC V-8 as the option for any new Camaro...not being a real expert in that area, maybe one of you guys knows if GM already makes one, or could possibly in the future...

Just to give you an idea of what GM can do .... the I6 in the '02 Trailblazer, Envoy and Bravada pulls 270 HP out of 4.2 liters on REGULAR gas. Extrapolate that, plus premium fuel tuning onto 5.7 liters Posts: 4222 | From: Winnipeg MB CA | Registered: Feb 2000

I remember you posting some numbers a while back that were pretty awesome...but does anyone know if GM makes an OHC V-8?

The Cadillac / Aurora Northstar in 4.6 and 4.0 liter diplacement respectively making 300 / 275 / 250 HP depending on application are all aluminum DOHC powerplants.
