Broh, Art... I gotta ask, because I just don't understand, and am curious if you could fill me in on your devious plans:

I noticed your post below, showing your SS with all the SS decals, etc removed.. along with the exhaust tucked up, and the wheels are plainer now with no ss logos in the center.. I guess what I have to ask at this point is, why not just buy a Z28 convertible? Did you want the SS hood.. is that the main selling point? Or the suspension items..?? SLP options? I'm just curious.. I have never seen someone willing to be "understated" as much as you have in this case.. from the average passer, they would assume you have V6, and if they saw the hood.. they would probably assume it to be a fake..

This message isn't a slam.. to each his own.. I just could never imagine removing the SS pizzaz that makes up our car.. and I'm curious what inspired it.. Do you have further plans... blower? nos? something to make it even more sleeper oriented?

You've heard the saying "keep smiling ... everyone will wonder what you're up to"?

You ask a very valid question, and I'll try to answer as best I can.

I have always loved sleepers, the dog-dish hubcaps, subtle or missing badging, stuff that the motorheads can pick up ... but missed by the casual observer. If I was ever to get rid of the "POSSUM" plate I'd get "9T9 WU8" just to keep 'em scratching they're heads.

The body side mouldings and badging went because they were "stuck on" and a pain to clean around ... a serious consideration for a "clean" daily driver.

The exhaust .... the reason the dual dual makes more horsepower is the 3" intermediate, not the 4 tips sticking out the back. I got tired of raking my knuckles over the tips almost everytime I washed, dried or polished the car. Also, in the winter "stuff" would collect on the pipes. The dual dual is now safely tucked away in the attic, just a quick trip to the muffler shop away from being reinstalled. The 3" straight pipe is clean, light and sounds pretty good .... even though a Dynomax Bullet is going on once I get it painted to tone it down a little.

The wheels ... I sorta explained that in that thread ... I still have the chromies, and these are 17 x 9 SS wheels, and I am seriously considering finishing them by having the "SS" logo replaced.

Future plans?? I have a set of G-force KD's that will get installed once I wear out either the F1's or R1's ... I'll probably add a roll bar sooner rather than later, and if I find 10K burning a hole in my pocket, heads, cam, intake, headers, clutch and a 12 bolt rear would happen.

Should I have bought a Z28 ... maybe ... but then I'd miss out on the SSOA/SLP thing ... and I really like the hood, spoiler, 17" wheels, tires, suspension, etc. ... even if I end up storing it later. Ask JeffY how much abuse he got from me because the Bilstein wasn't available for the ragtops in '99

Afterthought ... did you see Fred Dryers Caprice in GMHTP a number of issues ago? ... I love that kind of stuff!!

OK.. I understand.. I still think its a "to each his own" kind of thing, because for me to have my SS decals removed would be such a big deal... I just COULD NOT DO IT.

Love your car.... hope your project plans come true
