The word they told us! The C6 will be late 2004 and have a longer Wheelbase but will actually be 5 inches shorter. It will also have some kind of wheel offset similar to the Viper. The front wheels will be 18” and the rear will be 19”. There will be a 5-spd auto option or possibly a 6-spd auto. The 5-spd in the BMW is the GM 5-spd auto, so they may one up for the C6. The coupe will be a removable top, they are still deciding about a convert! (Whether to come out the same time as coupe or delay for a bit). To get an idea of what the HUD will be like, they suggest you test-drive the XLR when it arrives. Also the interior components will have a major upgrade. The Z06 version of the C6 will not arrive till 2006. It will have 19” at all four corners and at this time they are putting 335’s on the rear.
Also the C5 group did a tour of the engine factory and the day prior to their arrival they were testing the LS7. The said the heard the HP ratings were in the high 400’s.

They also had info on the 50th anniv. I’ll post that in the C5 section.

As a side note: In late 2000 the came up with a new casting method for the LS. This new cast became the LS6. In the later runs of that year they started placing these blocks in the F-bodies. You can tell the difference between an LS1 and the LS6 block by looking at the passenger side block right where the head sits. IF it looks like someone took a router to the block (about 1/16 –1/8” deep) it is the LS6 block if it is flush it is the LS1. Also in that same time frame the were installing the Corvette motor in the F-bodies. The block, heads, cam were the same, the difference was the F-body exhaust and a detune in the F-body PCM.

As for the 50th! The color is supposed to be a shade darker than the Magenta Red. It will have a Deerskin type color interior with some 50 th Anniv badging. All Vettes in that year will get a 50th Anniv Corvette Emblem. It will be the current C5 emblem but the ring will be gold and there will be some type of 50th notation between the flags. The Z06 will not have the 50th color or badging but will have the emblem.

Of course by saying all this the actual product will be 180 out! BUT this is what we were told.
Oh Yea! One other thing. The 427 that is in this months Vette mag may become a reality.

Interesting...I noticed this on my engine (late 2000 model) and wondered why it was there.

Whoever said you couldn't run away from your problems obviously wasn't driving an SS.

Ahhh!! Sorry! 'they' are the C5 Registry
Also here is a pic of an LS6 cast block.
Not the circle on the block but the area just off the bolt end!
Now as I see it the LS1 and LS6 block are the same it was just a different way to cast the blocks..
