We have received many new requests for the chome hood scoop insert piece. Since the feedback on the first batch seems to be positive, we thought we would go ahead and offer another group purchase for those who missed out on the first one. Here is the link to the page in the store:

Hood Scoop Insert

We can also include the Trans Am Ram Air grille pieces and the pre-98 Z28 hood pieces. We had a demo made of each and they turned out nice. We can do the pre-98 SS hood scoop piece but it is more tricky. SLP has the insert piece and to order one we have to provide VIN#s to secure the part.

If anyone has any questions or we can help you with anything else please let me know. We will soon have an update on new products from the SEMA convention....we found a few interesting items.

Hey Deanne,
I was thinking about purchasing one of these inserts, but was curious as to how simple (or difficult) the installation is? Is it simply a pop out the old and stick in the new, or is it a little more involved than that? Also, how does it hold up to winter weather. Since it is that time of year, and since I drive my SS all year round, will it hold up to the rain, cold, snow, etc.?

Thanks,
Rob.

Hey Deanne,

A guy in my local club wanted to see about getting one for his '96 SS. I see that you are going to need the VIN. How would you like them to contact you. Should he just order through the website and then you guys will contact him for the VIN? How does it work?

Thanks,

Amy..Hi. We can help your friend with the 96 SS. Just have him email me. We can order the part from SLP Eng. with his VIN # and then include it in the next batch we send off for chroming. The part is more expensive than the GM ones we are buying for the current gen., but it shouldn't run more than an extra $20.00.

Rob, from what I've heard other owners say, installation is rather simple. You have to carefully pop out the old one and then snap the new one in. I really can't tell you much about winter durability and maybe some other members who have had these for awhile can help on that question. I do know that metallizers have recommended not washing it with 409 or other abrasive chemicals because it can damage the finish. I would not recommend using a power sprayer on it either. The "chrome" finish is rather thin and even though it is clear coated I think it does require gentle care. Anyone have any tips on care to share?? Thanks.

Here's a tip http://www.hoodscoop.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008948 .

On another note Deanne do you think it would help if we ( clear corner guys & gals ) blasted APC or whoever with e-mails telling them we want the clear side marker? Thanks

Al

Hi Al, that might actually be a good idea. Once we get our brochures in the mail and start following up with these people I'll post some phone numbers/names and email addresses. Then you guys can remind them that there is a demand for the clear marker lenses. Maybe that will get them motivated.

Thanks Joe. We are getting there on this next batch.

Hi Deanne

I wanted to say thanks for putting together a great product and to post a picture of the grille installed. Not the greatest shot, was taken in my garage under fluorescent lights. I am really happy with the look of the new grille!
