It's been quite a year.......

Many new friends....and many "reunions" with old friends........

Some bad memories.........

We lost a national hero on the NASCAR track...........

The world changed on Sept. 11.........still hard to comprehend..........

.....and I had the dreaded task of informing you that Ste. Therese will close at
the end of the 2002 model run......one of the worst days of my professional
career.........

From my point of view, this was one of the toughest years in recent
memory........but we are fortunate.....we live in a Great Country.....and we
have freedom. Regardless of what befalls us, we have many, many blessings to
count.

But let's not forget that there were lots of Good Memories in 2001........

The Camaro/Firebird Enthusiast communities continue to grow...with record
attendance at most annual shows........

SLP has taken the SS and Firehawk to another new level with 345 horsepower
versions....and great suspension and appearance items that we all love. My
sincerest thanks to all the men and women at SLP for all they have done for the
Camaro and Firebird over the past sevearl years....

We introduced a milestone Camaro-- the Limited Edition SS 35th Annivesary Coupe
and Convertible -- to a record audience at Carlisle.......we unveiled the
Brickyard 400 Version the following week at Camaro Superfest. Forty-five
indentical convertibles were used as Festival Vehicles at the Brickyard...and a
specially prepared 35th Convertible and 35th Coupe led the pace car around the
world-famous Indy Motor Speedway at the start of the race. I have to once again
thank SLP for the hard work they put into getting the 35th cars finished in
time....

The World Wide Camaro Association continues to grow. I'm hopeful that this will
be our national voice in the future. If you haven't joined, you really ought to
consider it.....www.worldwidecamaro.com for more details on what you're
missing......

Matt Murphy and his company GMMGInc has created some very special Camaros and
Firebirds: The Berger Camaro, The Earnhardt "Intimidator"; The Tom Henry
Racing Camaro, and the Carl Black Blackhawk......not to mention my favorite of
all: the "New ZL1".......

I'm pleased to see that more and more Camaro and Firebird owners are starting to
participate in a common show. We have much more in common than we do in
difference........and I've made some great new Firebird Friends. Most of you
are aware of a challenge that was made at the National Corvette
Museum.......1,000 Camaros and Firebirds at the Museum next Sept 20-22 and I
will quit smoking! (log onto www.corvettemuseum.com for more details as they
develop....)

And speaking of the museum, we had two official Camaro Birthday parties this
year......the first being our 35th Celebration in conjunction with NHRA's 50th
at Indy Raceway Park over the Labor Day Weekend......Once again, we tapped
Central Indiana Camaro Club for their help.....and once again, they outdid
themselves..........

That party was followed by an Official Camaro/Firebird 35th Birthday Party at
the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. For those of you who
attended, it was a weekend packed full of seminars, racing, tours, food, fun,
and of course, lots of F-cars.......Let's do it again next year! A huge "Thank
You" to Larry Hayes and Wendell Strode and their staff at the NCM...and also to
Andy Archer for his work in putting all the details together.........

The Camaro Legends Tour set a new record for tour stops and attendance numbers.
As our way of thanking you, the Camaro Enthusiast, we raised the dollar amount
of the Camaro Legends Tour Certificate to $1,000 off the purchase of a new 2000,
2001, or 2002 Camaro. Over 500 individuals have thusfar taken us up on the
offer and have taken delivery of a new Camaro using the certificate........

Shortly after the attack on our nation, the President of the United States
contacted our Chairman to ask for General Motors' assistance in keeping the
economy going.....and we announced a "Zero Percent" finance program. Was it
successful? October was Camaro's best selling month since April of
1998.....and Corvette? Best month since June of 1975. You, our enthusiasts,
bought new GM cars and trucks in record numbers....and we thank you.

And, of course, we had some big news way at the top of General Motors. Ron
Zarella left to go back to Baush & Lomb from whence he came......and Bob Lutz is
back at the helm of GM North American Operations. Those of us who are "car guys
and gals" couldn't be happier. There is a change in the way we will do
business...and it is all good news. My friends -- the future is bright at
General Motors. As I look downt the road at various product offerings -- 2004
to 2008....I think you will be pleased. Performance is NOT dead at General
Motors....not by a long shot. For those of you "doubting Thomases"......let me
remind you that we all thought performance was dead in 1974.....boy, were we
wrong...........

The Camaro Enthusiast Websites continue to grow, both in number and in
registered members. It is grown so much that it is impossible for me to monitor
most of the sites.....but when I do, I realize just how many people love these
cars.....and how lucky we are to have a brand that evokes such passion and pride
in people........

The men and women of Ste. Therese Assembly continue to manufacture a great
product.......and I am grateful to each of them for making a car that we all can
be proud of........in fact, I nearly burst at the seams with pride when I see
Camaros and Firebirds shined up...all in a row.....at club meets.....or even
watching a lone Camaro travel down a highway....with the owner smiling behind
the wheel.

I thank each of you for a great year.

Thank you for your kind hospitality when I visited -- for the notes that I've
gotten over the year -- for your words of encouragement -- and for the input
you've given me on what a Camaro should be and shouldn't be.

Thank you for supporting your local and national clubs.....and for travelling
far and wide to help celebrate this great car.

Thank you for visiting the various websites.....and for helping each other as
questions come up.....

And though I've said it before -- I don't think I'll ever be able to say it
enough:
