I had to terminate two employees today as part of a staff reduction. It is not a good experience. I hope I never have to do it again. I think of how devastated I would be and am surprised that my two people held it together as well as they did.

I've been in a position where I've had to lay off many employees over the years, from plant shutdowns to performance issues. It never gets any easier, no matter how many times you do it. It's undoubtedly the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my career

Yup, it is very difficult. I have had to do it quite a few times myself. People that I have grown to call friends, known the families, etc. It was the hardest thing to do!! It was a lot easier getting laid off than it was to let others go.

Know what you mean, I had to let 6 go this past August, 2 of which were single parents. I had a good relation with all of them for the most part. The thought of having to do that again is not a good feeling.. Posts: 1201 | From: Medina,Ohio | Registered: Feb 2000
