Well I have been doing a lot of calls to local window tint places in san diego to find the best deal to get windows tinted for my SS. I figured all you people might want to get in on this GP if you are local.

Talked to the guy at progressive tint and heres the deal.

He will be out of town the next week or so but he is gonna leave instructions for his workers about the gP and the pricing. Price is about 110$ give or take a few bucks. The is the price for all 3 windows and that is medium grade tint with a lifetime warranty against bubbling. for 30$ more you can get the Best tint he has which has a metallicy kind of look to it and it has a lifetime warranty against fading and bubbling.

The date we will be doing this is Saturday February 23rd. There is no time he just said to come in during there business hours and they will give you the GP price you just gotta let them know you are part of the GP.

Progressive Window Tinting
3677 Camino Del Rio W
San Diego, CA
(619) 294-4719

If everyone could please post your name and email if you are a for sure for next saturday.

Thanks

BTW the tint on the back window will be done in 1 piece.

Hey, thank you very much for this post! I am definitely interested in getting this done. Unfortunately, I have a conference that I have to be at on Feb. 23. Does this thing have to be done on that day or can it be done anyday?

Also, what is the legality of this tint? I forgot what the california regulations were, but I think they were something like 80% front, 30% rear or something? Please correct me if I'm wrong. The reason I ask is because I've been stopped 3 times for my tinted windows on my other car (a white Toyota Avalon). The only thing the officer cited me for in all three cases was excessive window tint on the front windows. And, it's not like they are limo black either, nor is it like this Avalon is riced out......just your regular old Avalon. I'm just worried that I'm going to be stopped even more often with the tint on my black SS!

Thanks for your help!

I believe the CA laws are that you can have any kind of tint in the back as long as you have a mirrors on either side of the car. And you can't have any on the sides but i am gonna get it tinted lightly all the way around and hope I don't get hassled and i drive with my windows down most of the time anyways. I'll give the place a call and see if they can get you in on a different day. I'll shoot you an email when I find out.

hey guys

I don't live in the San Diego area so I don't know how the cops are about tinted windows but I don't really give a second thought to my tinted windows. I have had the car 2 years now and no tickets...(knocking on my head ). I don't know the percentage but it is a step below limo tint on the side windows, you can just barely see shadows in the car. pics in the sig.

as Joey Red would say just tint em and Fuhgeddaboutit

Whoever said you couldn't run away from your problems obviously wasn't driving an SS.

Collin:

Thanks for helping me out with that tinting info!

Side Note: I had to go to UCSD today to teach a class and I was wondering how all of those San Diego SS driver's were doing! Hope to eventually meet up with some of you guys!
