I RECENTLY PURCHASE A 2002 CAMARO SS AND I OWN A 94 VETTE AND A 91 CAMARO RS AND I THINK BY FAR THIS IS THE BEST CAMARO EVER. I WILL BE SAD TO SEE IT GO THIS YEAR. I AM LOOKING TO MAKE MINOR MODIFICATIONS TO MY CAR TO MAKE IT FASTER AND LOOK LIKE A SLEEPER. I AM CURRENTLY INTERESTED IN THE SLP LOUDMOUTH EXHAUST AND LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK ON THE SYSTEM...SOUND AND HORSEPOWER BENEFITS TO THE CAR. THIS IS A WHOLE NEW ENGINE TO ME SO BEAR WITH ME IF I DONT UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING ABOUT THE LS1 MOTOR. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

I have the SLP LM on my '01 SS and I really like it. It definitely has the presence that will turn heads as you drive down the street. For normal driving, it's a little on the "loud" side, as the name implies, but not too bad. You can pretty much control the volume with your right foot. I've heard that the A4 cars experience some resonance in the 1800-2000 rpm range, but since I have an M6, I don't have this problem. The system absolutely wails when you're wide open. It sounds awesome. If you check out past threads in this forum or over at SLP, there have been a few posts of LM soundclips.
The system is several hundred dollars cheaper than other stainless cat-backs, but the others all have mufflers or other features. The LM has a tuned resonator rather than a muffler. Another system that you might consider is the Borla. It doesn't sound quite as mean as the LM on an LS-1, but it is tuneable, so if you get sick of the noise, you can quiet it down without compromising performance. I had a Borla on my '99 A4 Z28 and I really liked it. When I went shopping for a system for my SS, I had by then heard so many favorable comments about the sound of the LM that I decided I would at least listen to it before I made my purchase. The rest is history. I'm sure you could hook up with an SS owner in your area who has an LM if you'd like to hear one in person. For most people, that's all it takes to make the decision final.
You'll find that the LS-1 responds amazingly well to back induction and exhaust mods. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it. Congrats and once again, welcome.
Good luck,
Andy

I run with the Borla - no complaints. I have the medium plate in, and it's still plenty loud enough.

Welcome aboard. If you are in Jersey, you shoud go to SLP day. It's not that far off. You will get to hear all the different exhaust systems. I have the Borla and like it alot. The Loudmouth was not available when I changed mine or I would have seriously considered it. I like loud. I am getting old and deaf so loud is not so loud. I have the Loudmouth on my SS and I love it. I also feared the Loudmouth would be too loud especially since the car is my daily driver. I had never heard it before I purchased it but decided to take the chance. And it sounds great and really isn't all that loud to me. You can control the volume pretty well if you have the M6.
One thing this exhaust won't do is make your car sound like a sleeper. People will definitely hear it.
Many people say it will seem loud at first, then after a couple weeks you won't even notice it. I found this to be very true. If you really are wondering about it though, then I would agree with the others about going to SLP Day. You can hear many different exhausts there and see which one you like best.

Whoever said you couldn't run away from your problems obviously wasn't driving an SS.

Currently have the GMMG Chambered Exhaust on my 2000SS, no complaints and makes noise when you want it. Have had several people ask me if I had a big block motor installed, makes the LS1 motor sound even better. If you have not heard or seen one, then let me know, some others on the board have purchased the system from GMMG,Inc. in Marietta, GA. This is the same system that is on the Berger SS Camaro's and the Earnhardt SS's. KICKBACK

and yes my signature fits me just fine!
when i raced my vette guys at the track would come over and want to talk to my "boyfriend" about the stuff done to the car. and that would piss me off becuase some guys would automatically think that a girl didnt know anything about racing...but not this girl....i know alot about cars and i can run at the track just as good as any guy.
if anyone has some info please pass it along....this LS1 is all new to me and i want to learn

"Intrigued" would be putting it too mildly.
Unfortunately, I can't offer much advice about the Loudmouth since I don't own it. But Nate does and we've driven each other's cars back-to-back to make comparisons. With the mods I have and his car with only the Loudmouth, my SOTP meter came out pretty close for the two.
As for the sound...I personally think it's a little too loud and at certain RPMs, the volume isn't so bad but the resonance hurts my ears. But it does sound more intimidating
It's all about personal preference, though. Have fun making the decision and then enjoy the results.

Welcome! Sometimes it's hard for the boys to understand that there are a few women out there that are into performance cars. Once they learn that you know a few things about cars, they are usually quite impressed! As a matter of fact, I work with mostly men and they all come to me when they have car problems! Go figure. SSee ya around.

Since you already paid the extra $700 for dual/dual, I'd recommend you stay with it...at least until you ride several miles in an SS with the Loudmouth. From what I've heard, most of the other catback exhaust systems out there aren't measurably better than the dual/dual or CME (except for the Loudmouth and GMMG, the others mostly offer a different sound without added power).
[edit] - Wait a minute...magnesium rims Those were an option on the 'Vette a couple years back but they're not available on the Camaro

the slp exhaust i have isnt a head turner though!
i was also thinking about just welding a dump on the exhaust and run it that way but im afriad i will loose power off of it. we will see i have plenty of time b4 bowling green to get stuff done

Welcome to the board. I have seen several posts on exhaust and it seems that most people will like the SLP dual dual system. Louder than stock but quietier than a loudmouth muffler.

Ok guys (HTWLSS, Steve da wrench, and Obssed) very funny. i was wondering why NVMY02SS was saying what she was saying in the post "Natess??" trying to set me up Steve and Teri? fine, fine, i might be a little woman/car crazy, but i can't help it. anyway, i do have the LM on my SS. i do really like it. the only down fall is that there is cabin resonence at about 2000-2300 RPM. especially if you are going up a hill in too high of a gear. but i also hear that borla is a good choice. i would like to hear it at bowling green. BTW, yes i am intrigued, or should i say obsessed by women racers sorry it took so long to respond, but my computer has been down for a while.
