It's nice to see some fellow Metro area Marylanders here! Does anyone know if Capital Speedway is still in operation. ( If not, I know I'm dating myself )

Probably dating myself too, but, yes Capitol Speedway is still in operation (was a favorite of mine some years back). Cecil County Raceway is still operating also.
