well i finally took the SS out to the drag strip for the first time last night. and i had a blast. Steve, Teri and Cy were also there drag racing.
here is the results of my best run.

R/T: .994
60': 2.264
330: 6.053
1/8: 9.044
MPH: 82.61
1000:11.570
1/4: 13.707
MPH: 105.55

i had three runs. this one was the best 1/4 mi. time. had some others that had better R/T's and 1/4 MPH. overall i am pretty happy with the results. especiall considering i really did not lower the tire pressure that much, running on stock F1's and spining the tires in 1st and 2nd. as Steve can tell you, it is hard to hook up at Portland International Raceway. for some reason, the track was very slick.

Steve took out the '69, but i'll let him tell you what 1/4 times he got.

That is excellent for taking her out the first time. Get that 60' down and you'll be looking great!

yeah, STeve did have trouble getting hooked up. Teri took some video of us, and you can hear Steve keep backing off the throttle just to keep the back wheels from spinning. i think his best times were in the 1..... well.... maybe i should let steve tell it, because he was awfuly proud of the cars performance and i dont want to spoil it.

Just put it in my good morning post, then saw this thread. I ran a 12.8 at 116mph(my best run). That was leaving the line in 2nd gear, VERY gradually accelerating, then spinning hard in third gear and having to backpedal 2-3 times every run. Need those new KDW's on (hopefully this week). Had lots of fun though. Will run it with the slicks next time, and am hoping for 11's!

...and inexperience makes, well, imperfect And that was me to a "T". This was my first time ever drag racing and let me just say I finally found out what my rev limiter feels like On my first run, I hit it in 2nd and it took what felt like a second to realize what was happening. Then I hit it again in 3rd and quickly shiften to 4th. Considering all that, I was happy to get a 13.88. I was just bummed that I didn't improve much by my 6th run.

I at least avoided my rev limiter the rest of the night but I just couldn't get my launches down. What could have been my best run got botched because I jumped the light just a hair too soon (.006 seconds) and didn't realize the run still counted if you got a red.

Nate and I were pretty much neck and neck on our runs but his best is still better than mine. I did go against Steve once and beat him...to the 330' mark

R/T: .809
60': 2.331
1/8: 9.082 @ 82.13
1/4: 13.781 @ 104.95

Very cool results! You all did well. I have never run my car on the strip. I'd be happy with anything below 14 my first time out.

Steve,
Your 69 is amazing! I gotta come down there the next time you guys hit the track and run my car.

Ryan, I will have to post ahead of time next time we go out. I may go out this friday, not sure. Just got my new KDW's mounted today. Think I will run it with the slicks next time though. Will look foreward to you going! Will try and hit woodburn drag stripn sometime this summer maybe,a nd will invite everybody to go. It should be fun, and its a better track for drag racing,a nd we can do it on Saturday!
